The organs

How many organs can you find here in the St. Michael’s church interior? Let’s look together.

Number one: the large organ above the main portal.

Number two: the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach organ to the left, above the south gallery.

Number three: the concert organ on the opposite side – at the north gallery.

And organ number four – you can’t see it! This organ is the antiphonal division, located in the loft. The sound enters the church through a lattice in the ceiling, which you can see high above you.

Together, the four St. Michael’s organs have 10,000 pipes, some of which you can hear every day during the midday prayer service at 12 p.m.
