Altar of celebration

In the centre of the chancel, amidst a gilded lattice, a table resting on twelve slender columns has found its place and allows the pastor to celebrate Holy Communion face to face with the congregation. This celebration altar was built 100 years after the impressive high altar and is made of the Carrara marble that dominates the chancel. A cross made of ancient bog oak is set into the round slab as an ornament.
