Opening times at St. Michael’s, church services and midday prayer services

Hamburg,  July 1, 2020

St. Michael’s is open daily from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m., with church access restricted to portal 8 on the northern church square.

The tower and observation deck (access via main portal) are open to visitors daily from 10.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. (the till closes and last admission at 6.00 p.m.).

The St. Michael’s crypt is closed. St. Michael’s by night opens at 6.00 p.m. at portal 2 on the southern church square.

Please observe Hamburg’s current contact restrictions.

We celebrate the Evangelical mass at 10.00 a.m. on Sundays and bank holidays. Evening church services are held on the first Sunday (Praytime) and the third Sunday (organ vespers) of each month and begin at 6.00 p.m. We offer a midday prayer service with organ music daily at 12.00 p.m., including a pedal point organ concert with organ music and a brief spiritual message on Saturdays.

Up to 250 people can attend a church service at St. Michael’s. There is no need to register for church services and prayer services (contact information collected to trace infection chains).

We observe the recommendations set out by North Church, which include a minimum distance of 1.5 metres between church service attendees (with the exception of members of the same household) and the availability of hand sanitiser at the entrance. We ask that people suffering from respiratory distress refrain from attending church services. If possible, church service attendees should wear a mask when entering and leaving the church, but once seated can remove the mask for the duration of the service.

Please consult our events calendar for information regarding any last-minute changes and which church services and events will be held at St. Michael’s in the weeks to come.
