The north gallery is home to a true romantic. The vibrant, soft sound of the concert organ built in 1914 is the perfect accompaniment to symphonic performances with a choir and orchestra. The concert organ was damaged during the devastating nights of bombing in Hamburg in World War II, but was later renovated and updated. During the 2009 repair, it was returned to its original state with great success: the stately organ with its 42 stops and 2,671 pipes sounds just as romantically warm now as it did back then.
