Magne H. Draagen - Cantor and Organist
Magne H. Draagen, born in 1974, studied church music at the Oslo Conservatory of Music after graduating from high school, where he received his soloist diploma in organ performance in 2002. From 2003 to 2012, he served as cathedral cantor/organist at the cathedrals in Oslo and Stavanger. From 2012 to 2021, he held the position of cathedral cantor and principal organist at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim – Norway's national sanctuary and main church. There he directed a diverse range of church music, including three cathedral cantors and five choirs.
In addition to numerous CD productions and concerts at home and abroad, Magne H. Draagen is also active as a composer, including liturgical literature for choir and organ as well as various instrumental ensembles. He has taught at the University of Trondheim (NTNU), the Oslo Academy of Music and the University of Stavanger, among others, as a lecturer in choral conducting, improvisation and organ playing.
Magne H. Draagen has been Cantor at St. Michael's Church since September 2021, where he can be heard regularly at midday prayers, church services and concerts on the Michel organs.
