Jörg Endebrock - Cantor and Organist
Jörg Endebrock was appointed cantor and organist at St. Michael's Church in Hamburg at the beginning of 2020, where he conducts one of northern Germany's most renowned choirs, the St. Michael's Choir. In addition to maintaining a broad repertoire ranging from Monteverdi to Martin, he continues long-standing Hamburg traditions with annual performances of Bach's Christmas Oratorio, St Matthew Passion and Brahms' Requiem.
He was born in Osnabrück in 1970 and studied Protestant church music in Hamburg and organ in Paris with Susan Landale on a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service. In 1999, he completed his postgraduate studies with a Prix d'excellence and a Prix de virtuosité avec félicitations.
He was a prize winner at the international organ competitions in Haarlem and Paris. Even during his studies, he gained important experience in renowned choirs, including the NDR Choir. From 1999 to 2008, he was cantor at the Christuskirche in Freiburg, and from 2008 to 2019, he was responsible for the diverse music programme at the Lutherkirche in Wiesbaden and conducted the renowned Bach Choir Wiesbaden.
As a concert organist, he performs regularly in Germany and neighbouring European countries. Radio recordings for NDR, SWR, Deutschlandradio and Radio France, as well as numerous CD recordings, round off his artistic activities.
