Horst Huhn studied the trumpet at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, ultimately switching from his initial focus on new music (Ensemble Hinz & Kunst) to early music and historical instruments. He founded and leads the St. Michael’s Brass Ensemble, with performances focusing on early brass music.

Horst Huhn has been a St. Michael’s tower trumpeter since 1992. The tower trumpeter plays a chorale in all four cardinal directions at 10.00 a.m. and 9.00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and at 12.00 p.m. on Sunday, a tradition that has been upheld at St. Michael’s for more than 300 years.
