Choir director Singschule Doris Vetter
Doris Vetter has been directing the choir groups at St. Michael's Singing school for children and youth since the beginning of 2022 and coordinates the collaboration with the vocal coaches.
She gained her first choir experience as a member of the Philharmonic Choir and Karlsruhe Chamber Choir at the music school in her hometown. The choir won first prize in the youth choir category at the German Choir Competition in Hanover, performed major choral works with the orchestra of the Badisches Staatstheater, undertook numerous international concert tours throughout Europe and overseas, and attended the major international choir festivals Europa Cantat and Zymria. During this time, she also developed a large repertoire of a cappella, sacred and secular choral music as a member and voice coach in the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Choir.
She won first prize several times at state and national level in the Jugend musiziert competition and the Tonkünstlerverband B-W. She went on to study music, graduating in piano, bassoon and singing, and also studied choral and orchestral conducting.
After studying abroad in Bologna, Vienna and Rio de Janeiro, she was appointed to teach accompaniment and singing at the universities of Karlsruhe and later Berlin. As a choir director, including in the youth choir sector, accompanist and musical assistant, she worked at theatres in Baden-Baden, Bremen, at the Theater Vorpommern and at the Eutin and Rheinsberg festivals.
In Hamburg, she worked as an assistant to the Alsterspatzen under Jürgen Luhn and directed, among other things, the choir of the St. Simeon parish in Alt-Osdorf, where she also founded a children's choir.
As a vocal coach, she has worked for the Symphonic Choir, the Carl Philip Emanuel Bach Choir and numerous other choirs in the Hanseatic city. At the Hamburg State Youth Music School, she works in the choir department at primary/district schools and grammar schools.
Doris Vetter is the choir representative on the executive committee of the Hamburg State Music Council.
